Privacy at RoofTally
Last updated: 2026-10-21. The short version: the roof sizes and prices you type stay on your device, we measure visits to improve the calculators, and if you buy Pro, Stripe handles the payment.
Who is responsible

Your roof stays on your device
The calculators run in your browser. The sections you describe, the products you choose and the prices you type are saved in this browser's local storage, so the shingle calculator, the tile calculator and the Pro sheet see the same roof when you come back. They are not sent to us, and we do not keep the numbers you enter unless you expressly ask us to email them to you.
What we do receive
- Hosting. The site is served by our hosting provider, Hostinger. Like any web server, it receives the technical data that comes with each request (your IP address, your browser and the page asked for) in order to deliver the page.
- Visit statistics with Google Analytics 4: the pages you open, the site that sent you, your country, your type of device and which calculators you use. Google LLC processes this for us under its data processing terms, and GA4 does not log or store IP addresses. If you are in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, the analytics cookies are set only once you allow them in the banner (Google Consent Mode).
- Pro purchases. Stripe (Managed Payments) is the merchant of record: it takes your card details and issues receipts, invoices and taxes under its own privacy policy. After you pay, your browser sends the checkout reference Stripe gave it to our verification service, a workflow on n8n Cloud, which asks Stripe whether that purchase is paid. The answer and the reference are stored in this browser's local storage. If you ask for an access link on another device, we look up your email in Stripe and send the link to it.
- Marketing emails, only if you tick the separate box next to the pay buttons. We keep your address, the date and the exact wording you agreed to. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us.
Why we may use it, and for how long
We rely on three legal bases: providing what you asked for (contract), running and improving the site (our legitimate interest) and, for marketing emails, your consent. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Visit statistics are kept in aggregate for as long as the site exists.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct, delete, restrict or take a copy of your data, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Write to hello@rooftally.xyz. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics uses the cookies _ga and _ga_*, kept for up to 2 years, to tell a returning visitor from a new one. In the EU, the UK and Switzerland they are set only after you allow them; elsewhere they are set by default. Your cookie choice, your roof sections and any Pro access you have are kept in this browser's local storage, which the features you use need in order to work.
